John Shehane
Thank you for your work last night! It was a stroke
of genius to involve all those stakeholders and experts.
Tremendously enlightening. We look forward to the next
step.
Joan Leavens
Executive Director, Blue River Watershed Association
The Shehane Group provided tremendous
services to DeLaSalle in three different areas - simultaneously.
Their business plan for our print shop was well designed,
is now fully funded and being implemented; they staffed
our development director position on an outservice basis
while we were between directors, and their staff person
did an outstanding job helping us to address our annual
fundraising budget; and finally, they led the recruitment
process that enabled us to hire an excellent, permanent
director of development. And not only did they perform
all three of these critical functions for a reasonable
fee, but we received the added benefit of having them
conduct individual board development interviews that
will pay dividends for a long time to come. I highly
recommend John and his outstanding cadre of professionals
who work in The Shehane Group.
Jim Dougherty, Ph.D.
Executive Director, DeLaSalle Education Center
The Capper Center of Kansas City has just completed
year two of its three-year Business Plan and is excited
to report that we have exceeded the number of services
projection for the entire three year business plan..
Thanks to The Shehane Group's assistance in
developing a strong business plan for the Capper Center,
we have increased our capacity to serve more individuals,
while at the same time generating increased revenue
to support our services for our long-term viability
in the community.
The Capper Center provided 428 assistive technology
services to individuals with disabilities in the Kansas
City community this past fiscal year, with an earned
income of over $70,000. At the beginning of the plan,
the Center was providing 106 services with an earned
income of $23,000.
Elaine Houtman
Director

John Shehane was hired in 1994 by the board of the
Midwest Center for Holocaust Education as a consultant
for their capital/endowment campaign. John coached even
the more reluctant among us on how to "make the
ask." He taught, he motivated, he cajoled.
A notch short of goal when his contract ended, John
stayed on in a volunteer capacity, eventually joining
our board of directors and serving as vice president
of fund development. So inspired were we by our success
and by his confidence in our cause that we raised the
bar, reaching then exceeding our goal of $2 million.
Our effort continues as John generously lends his creative
wisdom to our mission.
Jean Zeldin
Executive Director, Midwest Center for Holocaust
Education

In 1997, John Shehane worked with me as capital
campaign counsel for the second phase of our campaign.
John was instrumental in that campaign by helping the
YMCA of Greater Kansas city successfully raise $8,000,000.
John continues to be involved with the YMCA. Actually,
John continued helping me after his contract was complete.
John's most recent work with us as an organization has
been providing planned giving consultation. JOhn aided
my planned giving officer by developing a plan as well
as assisting him by going through all our files.
As a professional, I never hesitate to call on
John. Because of his knowledge, I find him to be a great
resource.

NPHA was well pleased with the facilitator and process
of the strategic planning session. [Joan] was competent,
professional, and a financial bargain for the amount
efficiently accomplished in a relatively short period
